Sunday was scheduled for the town of San Ignacio because of the Sunday Mass that attracts people to an otherwise very quiet town. Yesterday we saw hardly any people when Betty & I walked around in the late afternoon. The Mass was at 11 am, and Betty and I and one other person in our group decided to attend. The music was wonderful (I'm including a couple of photos of one of the musicians we photographed afterward). What I enjoyed even more was the melodious Spanish of the priest. It was totally enjoyable even though I had no idea what he was talking about. It was my first sustained experience of listening to the language, and now Spanish seems quite beautiful to me. Before Mass, we photographed the bell ringer.
After Mass, we were on our own to take photographs in town and have lunch. As usual, I was very enthusiastic about photographing people.
I'll end this post with a few more photos of San Ignacio and a couple of our pretty hotel. A special treat in the late afternoon was a visit to a lagoon where we saw kids swimming and families catching, cleaning and frying fish. I'll do a separate post about that next.
