Alturas, CA - that's where Betty & I've stopped for the night at a great inexpensive motel called the Rim Rock on day one of our road trip. We left Arcata around 11 am and arrived here about seven o'clock after passing varied and lovely scenery on a beautiful day of pretty much straight driving (386 miles). Of course we stopped a few times, including a leisurely lunch in Weaverville.
I didn't get out a camera even once until we got here to the motel and saw deer cross the road to get to the green grassy field next to our room at the corner of the motel. My first wild life shots of the trip...
We expect to have a couple more nights on the road before we get to West Yellowstone, our first destination. Betty and I are both so happy to be underway.
