Pat Flanigan - San Diego family photographer
Pat’s family is the inspiration for her artistic journey from being a mom/grandmother/teacher obsessed with camcorder & camera to an accomplished, award-winning photographer. Retired from teaching first grade and directing an adult literacy program, Pat delights in the time she has now for honing her craft with classes, workshops, resource people, photography trips and PRACTICE. She is active in Poly Camera Club and the Pt. Loma Artists Association. Pat has a blog at photobooksbypat.com/blog
In addition to Pat’s passion for photographing children and families, she travels the world looking for adventure and photo ops. The image above of Pat traipsing around Cuba with her camera gear and the one of Pat visiting a Maasai Village in Kenya were taken by Pat's friend Betty Fowler. The photos below were taken by Pat in Africa, Costa Rica, Cuba,Turkey, Italy, New Zealand, Prague and Australia.
The photo below was taken by Pat in Africa and shows baboons running away as an elephant emerges from the bush. This photo won 2nd place in the nature category at the 2010 San Diego County Fair. It was also juried in to the Best of Nature photography show at the San Diego Natural History Museum exhibit in 2010-11.
